Real Estate Development, Investment and Management in Excel

Purpose

Real estate development, investment, and management in Excel refers to the use of Microsoft Excel software as a tool for analyzing and managing various aspects of real estate projects, including financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and risk analysis.

Course Objectives

  • To provide participants with an understanding of key concepts, theories and tools used in Real Estate Development, Investment and Management, such as financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and risk analysis, and how to apply them using Excel.
  • To equip participants with the ability to use Excel to create detailed financial models for real estate projects, including pro forma income statements, cash flow projections, and return on investment calculations.
  • To develop participants’ ability to use Excel to create budgets and financial forecasts for real estate projects, including operating expenses, capital expenditures, and leasing assumptions.
  • To introduce participants to the use of Excel to evaluate and manage risk in real estate projects, including sensitivity analysis, scenario planning, and Monte Carlo simulations.
  • To develop participants’ ability to use Excel to calculate the value of a property using various methods such as Comparable Sales, DCF, Yield Capitalization etc.
  • To teach participants how to use Excel tools and functions such as data tables, Goal Seek, and Solver to optimize and analyze real estate projects.
  • To provide participants with an understanding of Excel VBA programming and how to use it to automate and streamline data analysis and modeling tasks in real estate projects.
  • To provide participants with practical experience in applying the concepts and tools learned in the course through real-world case studies and practical exercises.
  • To develop participants’ ability to effectively communicate and present their findings and analysis to stakeholders and clients
